Marilyn Monroe is an icon. That's probably why I drew a picture of her back in 1989. My drawing is on display now at Edison Place the restaurant/bar in Glendale, NY. Check it out if you want. Funny timing for me that it's on display and I wasn't even aware that there was a Marilyn Monroe movie. It's funny that you liked Michelle Williams performance too because I also can't imagine her playing that character. Glad to hear that you liked the movie and that it really touched you.
